Examine your 'mysql-data-directory/'hostname'.err' -file.
Please see from the manual sections:

- 'How to report bugs or problems'

Ps. It is very likely that you have some old versions
of RedHat files, like glibc, that you need to upgrade
before you can use MySQL on it. You can find information
from the manual about what files you should upgrade.
